A Kiss for CountrySM Philanthropic Campaign
Dallas, Texas, Oct. 27, 2008 – For the past two years, the pucker has become a powerful symbolic gesture, representing the power and hope to fight a national epidemic – domestic violence. With the launch of the second annual A Kiss for CountrySM philanthropic campaign, Mary Kay Inc., The Official Beauty Sponsor of the 42nd Annual CMA Awards, in partnership with the Country Music Association, is raising awareness and helping to end domestic violence. Country Music artists nationwide lent their lips to the cause by providing their kiss prints and autographs to be auctioned off to benefit domestic violence prevention. As part of its $3 million commitment, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation will provide a grant in the name of each participating artist to domestic violence prevention shelters around the country in 2009.
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, singer/songwriter Jewel is donating her own kiss to the cause. Jewel is also revealing her peers’ impressive lip prints with puckers from a bevy of Country Music legends and emerging artists including Reba McEntire, Kellie Pickler, Sara Evans, Jennifer Hanson, Naomi Judd, Miranda Lambert, Rodney Atkins, Emerson Drive, Wynonna and many more. All kisses were created using Mary Kay® Creme Lipstick in Apple Berry, a rich shade boasting a gorgeous cause.
Immediately following the unveiling, the Country Music artists’ specially framed, one-of-a-kind Kiss Cards will be available for bidding on the charity section of uBid.com. The online auction will run from Nov. 11, 2008, to Dec. 12, 2008, with all proceeds benefiting the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation and domestic violence prevention.
