My initial reaction was:

I wasn't really convinced I was a good fit for a Mary Kay business. I didn't have experience in sales or beauty products.

When I started my business:

It was incredible to me that I was starting my first business with only $100. Now I say those were the best-invested $100 of my life.

My biggest concern:

Finding customers. I have a small family and couldn't think of who would be my customers. But by using the tools and learning from other Independent Beauty Consultants, I established my client base.

I wanted the extra income from my business to:

Help pay for gas that was getting really expensive. I was hoping to earn about $100 a week extra.
