Goodbye, corporate world. Hello, Mary Kay!

About Me:

From: Gulf Breeze, Fla.

Married to Steve and have one daughter, Addie, 8.

I'd rather be:

In Tahiti!

Faves:

Being with my family, shopping, and The Sound of Music.

Most prized possession:

Grandparents' upright piano.

"I don't have blue hair."

My customers' fave:

TimeWise® Firming Eye Cream

I heard about Mary Kay, but:

It's hard to leave a six-figure income and figure out how to replace it with your lipstick business.

Why I decided to do it:

I found myself expecting my little girl, working 60-80 hours a week and traveling 80 percent of the month as a corporate executive. Mary Kay was the only opportunity that would give me flexibility and open-ended earning potential.

Why does Mary Kay rock?

Mary Kay helped me define the priorities of my life. It showed me the value in areas other than fiscal.

My fave product:

Oil Control Lotion 3

My obstacles:

  • Finding customers
  • Having self-discipline
  • PRIDE: I was embarrassed to leave my corporate job and start a lipstick business. I'd only worked with men and didn't really like women. I thought they were too high maintenance to work with.

    Accomplishments/Strengths:

I didn't let what others think of me hold me back from pursuing what was right for me and my family.
