Q:What causes the skin to age?
A:The natural aging process of the skin usually begins in our 20s. As the skin ages, its renewal rate slows. It becomes drier, less firm and less radiant. External factors such as sun exposure and environmental stresses like pollution can often accelerate the skin's aging process.

Q:What is a wrinkle?
A:Wrinkles, creases or expression lines are signs of aging skin. They are caused by both normal aging and premature damage which impact and weaken the underlying support structure of the skin, causing a loss in elasticity or the ability to bounce back.

Q:What causes wrinkles?
A:Intrinsic aging is the natural process that includes factors we cannot control. The skin's metabolism slows, causing less collagen production and weaker elastin. The development of new skin cells slows down and turns over less frequently. We lose body fat and muscle strength, and bones shrink in the facial region. Hormones also play an important role.

Extrinsic aging is influenced by external factors that we can control. Sun exposure is the main contributor to premature aging, combined with other environmental factors such as pollution and smoking. In addition to the natural gravity, our sleeping positions and repetitive facial movements may also play a role. In addition to wrinkles, chronic sun exposure can lead to photoaging.

Step 1:Refine is an advanced exfoliator containing key exfoliating ingredients used by dermatologists to energize skin immediately by effectively removing dead skin cells from inside and around the edges of pores. This process helps reduce the appearance of pores. The creamy lotion also feeds and nourishes the skin from below through increased microcirculation. This brings oxygen to the surface of the skin to stimulate circulation, creating a healthy, more radiant glow.

Application Tips

  • After cleansing, apply a quarter-sized amount of TimeWise® Microdermabrasion Step 1:Refine to wet face and gently massage into skin with fingertips. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry. Follow with Step 2:Replenish.
  • Use TimeWise® Microdermabrasion Set 2-3 times weekly; wait two days between applications.
  • Do not use with acne treatment products.
  • Use less frequently on delicate skin.

Note:Some people may experience a little redness. This is normal and is the result of increased blood flow to the area. The result is a healthy-looking glow.
