JOB PURPOSE   

The job is responsible for working with the Europe Manager of Finance in reporting, analyzing and monitoring financial information for the Europe Region.  Requires a solid understanding of financial reporting requirements and proactively works with each subsidiary to maintain accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP and company financial procedures.  Works as a liaison between various Dallas based groups and Europe Region subsidiary contacts in order to address and present resolutions to issues related to the consolidation and reporting of financial and key statistical information.  The position assists with the planning and forecasting process including detail work with subsidiary budgets, planning system guidance and administration, and in-depth reporting and analysis.  Also requires regular ad hoc type reporting and projects such as implementing global designs for financial systems and reporting procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES    

Responsible for the collection of monthly financial transmissions and related operational statistics from financial personnel in the European region.  Reviews the collected information to identify and resolve reporting and accounting issues that may be present.  Works with the Europe Subsidiaries to ensure complete and timely reporting of financial data.  Responsible for compliance with U.S. GAAP and Company policy as well as accuracy of system-generated financial reports to be included in published internal reports and in consolidated results.

Responsible for the creation of monthly, quarterly, and YTD consolidation of financial reports for the European region.  Analyzes the data reports and variance explanations against plan and prior year for accuracy.  Documents and researches deficiencies and manages issues through to resolution with the applicable international manager and/or subsidiary finance personnel.  Contacts Finance personnel at the subsidiary level to discuss variances, request further information, or provide additional support to the subsidiary.

Works with the Europe Manager of Region Finance to provide financial information to region management by developing and maintaining financial and analytical reports using all available reporting tools. Uses Excel and other software reporting tools to develop specialized financial reports, either due to management request, for a special project, or as an addition to ongoing monthly reporting to the region.  Explores new capabilities to enhance the information presented to region management and to meet specific needs of a subsidiary or region office. 

Reviews subsidiary finance and associated function and works with various contacts to ensure internal controls are adequate, processes are efficient and effective, and results are accurate.  These reviews would include, but not be limited to evaluating processes for month end closing, consolidations, tax accounting, inventory accounting, all forms of Sales Force sales and compensation accounting, adequacy of reserves, cost of sales accounting, adequacy of supporting documentation maintained, accuracy of reconciliations, reporting processes, etc.  

Assists with the implementation and ongoing utilization of financial accounting systems throughout the European region.  Assists with implementation and upgrades to regional financial systems including the analysis of business requirements and review of documentation and functionality to ensure requirements will be met by the delivered systems.  Also includes working with subsidiaries on issues related to financial systems such as reporting, mapping of charts of accounts and/or converting charts of accounts when necessary.

Assists the Europe Manager of Region Finance with the annual budget process.  Works with subsidiary staff to provide assistance with detailed plans including but not limited to guidance on detailed planning initiatives, communication of due dates, updates and circulation of reporting templates, collection and analysis of plan reporting templates, etc.  Assists subsidiary staff in the use of Hyperion planning system and related reporting software.  Reviews and analyzes completed plans for accuracy by comparing actual to plan gaps and explaining variances as well as updating plans as necessary based on research findings, etc.  Assists in creating the consolidated annual plans for the region as well as plan presentations used by management.  

Assists in maintaining documentation to support Region Office Consulting Services fees that are billed to European subsidiaries.  This involves working with the entire Region Team and the International Tax Department to maintain electronic files and e-mails that support time charged to each subsidiary.  The documentation should adequately support all time charged to the subsidiary to the degree necessary so that it is acceptable to the foreign governments of the subsidiaries receiving the charge.

Assists the Europe Manager of Region Finance with coordinating quarterly Regional reviews.  Including preparation, review and analysis of meeting materials to help ensure that materials are meaningful and consistent.  Also works with subsidiaries in preparation of meeting materials to ensure that data submitted is accurate.

Oversees the collection and tracking of travel related documents for all employees traveling to the Europe region.

Assists with the review of subsidiary and consolidated cash flow analysis.

Reviews first level of calculations to measure subsidiary performance based on criteria established in the International Bonus Program and works with subsidiaries on any changes or updates needed.

Performs task forces/special projects on request for region office, FMA, management, external auditors, subsidiaries, and tax consultants.

Provides financial administrative support to the department and region as necessary.

In addition to the above, incumbent is expected to meet the required competencies for this position as defined in the competency profile.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES    

 Education:   Bachelor’s degree in accounting, a CPA certification, plus

Experience:   2 years of accounting industry experience in general accounting and financial reporting.  Prior experience with integrated financial and operating systems is preferred.  Experience in international accounting is highly preferred in addition to or in conjunction with experience in public accounting.

A high degree of competency in report development, analytical system functionality and system controls to effectively participate in system implementations, upgrades, enhance analytical reporting capabilities, establish accounting internal controls review financial reports and develop accounting system requirements.

Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as customer services skills to work with employees and management of other departments within the company, auditors, and employees located at the international subsidiaries.  Must be culturally sensitive.  Must be comfortable with regularly completing conference calls with international contacts while being sensitive to time differences and language skills.

Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills to be able to work independently, resolve problems, and coordinate resolutions with other departments and international subsidiaries.  Must be a self motivator and independently manage projects against internal and external deadlines.

Highly proficient in Microsoft software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint to maintain electronic financial information, perform financial analysis, and prepare financial reporting presentations for management.  A working knowledge of Hyperion is preferred.

Able to exercise independent judgment on how to proceed with requests and projects when the Europe Manager of Region Finance is out of the office.  Incumbent must rely on experience, knowledge, and use good judgment in determining how to independently accomplish projects and requests.

Able to work under strict deadlines with high level of accuracy, follow procedures, and handle several projects at the same time.

Able and willing to travel 20% to 30% of the time.

Foreign language skills are beneficial.
