Keiko’s Eyeliner Guide

Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist Keiko Takagi answers your questions about eyeliner.

Q: HOW CAN I CONTROL THE THICKNESS OF MY EYELINER?
A: The NEW Mary Kay® Liquid Eyeliner Pen is ideal for everything from super thin to thick lines because the pen is so versatile. Just start thin and work your way to the desired thickness.

Q: HOW DO I CREATE A PERFECT CAT EYE?

A: Starting at the middle of your upper eyelids, draw a line as close to your lashes as possible. Create a wing by drawing from the lashlines outward and connect the eyeliner back to your upper lashlines in a triangle shape. Then fill it in. Mary Kay® Gel Eyeliner and NEW Mary Kay® Liquid Eyeliner Pen are perfect for this!

Q: HOW DO I GET A SMUDGY EYE LOOK?
A: The Mary Kay® Eyeliner formula can give depth to lashes and create a smoldering look. Apply it along the lashlines and smudge with a brush.

Eyeliner Guide by Eye Shape

Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist Keiko Takagi shares tips on how to use the Mary Kay® Liquid Eyeliner Pen to get the best look for the shape of specific eyes.

Almond Eyes

If you want eyes to look rounder, stop the liner at the outer corners to create a more open shape. If your almond eyes are small, go with a thinner line for the inner
corners and make it gradually thicker as you get to the outer corners
.”

Round Eyes

Start about a fourth of the way from the inner corners and create a thin line going toward the outer corners. This creates the illusion of narrower and longer eyes.”

Wide-Set Eyes

Draw only on the outer three-fourths of the lashlines. This creates the illusion that the eyes are closer. Also, you can adopt a longer wing at the corners of the eyes to help them open up.”
